Today, April 25, the Faculty of Philology and Arts, the Urgench State University named after Abu Rayhon Biruni and the Research Institute of Cultural Studies and Intangible Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly organized a scientific and practical seminar on the topic "Scientific-theoretical, creative and practical foundations of the Uzbek maqom".
The seminar was opened by the Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs and Innovations of the university Z.Ibragimov with an introductory speech and expressed his views on the art of maqom, which is considered a high example of the Uzbek national musical culture.
Within the framework of this event, the historical roots of the Uzbek maqom, its commonality with folk oral art, the structure of maqoms and its inextricable connection with classical literature were discussed in order to conduct a deep scientific analysis of the spiritual and cultural wealth and convey it to the younger generation.
The seminar was of great scientific and methodological importance, serving to shed light on current issues related to the in-depth study and promotion of maqom.
In particular, the Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs and Innovations of the Research Institute of Cultural Studies and Intangible Cultural Heritage, Candidate of Arts, Associate Professor I.Dadadjanova, Scientific Secretary of the Research Institute, Doctor of Philosophy in History, Associate Professor J.Ahmedov, Head of Department of the Research Institute, Candidate of Arts, Associate Professor A.Abdurashidov, and Doctor of Philosophy in Arts, Associate Professor R.Boltayev participated as guests and delivered lectures on topics such as “Maqom Education in Uzbekistan”, “Issues of Postgraduate Education at the Research Institute of Cultural Studies and Intangible Cultural Heritage”, “Inheritance of Traditions in the Performing Art of Shashmaqom”, and “Khorezm Tanbur Drawings”.
At the end of the seminar, on behalf of the team of Urgench State University named after Abu Rayhon Biruni, the participants of the conference were presented with certificates of appreciation and souvenirs as an expression of respect and attention to national art.
