Today, at Urganch State University named after Abu Rayhan Biruni, an international scientific-practical conference was held on the topic “Contemporary Issues of Sustainable and Comprehensive Regional Development,” dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Professor Baxtiyor Ruzmetov, professor of the Department of Economics at Urganch State University, a full member of the New York Academy of Sciences (USA), and an international expert in regional economics.
The conference gathered renowned economists from abroad and various regions of our republic, representatives of the Khorezm regional administration, university leadership, faculty members of the Social and Economic Sciences Faculty, students and youth, as well as close associates and disciples of Professor B. Ruzmetov.
The opening ceremony was led by the acting rector of Urganch State University, S. Khodjaniyozov, who delivered the opening speech and acknowledged Professor Ruzmetov’s contributions to science and education. Additionally, the Deputy Governor of Khorezm Region, S. Salayev, Dean of the Social and Economic Sciences Faculty, I. Abdullayev, and professors from foreign and national higher education institutions congratulated the professor, highlighting the relevance and practical importance of the conference.
During the conference, discussions covered scientific research in areas such as regional economy, social infrastructure, ecological sustainability, innovative and digital economy, and economic modeling, emphasizing their contributions to the development of the field.
The main goal of the conference is to discuss urgent issues related to the sustainable development of regions amid global and regional changes, to promote advanced scientific ideas and proposals, and to facilitate the development of practical solutions based on international and local experience.
